Nathan Lloyd

Laura Lloyd thought there was something amiss with her son's vision but couldn't
put her finger on it. After all, Nathan never complained about eye problems.
When Laura would ask three year-old Nathan questions such as, "can you see
the airplane" or "did you see that sign," she noticed Nathan would
turn to see with his good eye.
Laura's family doctor didn't notice anything unusual and her eye doctor told her
the office doesn't test children under five.
Laura got confirmation of the problem when VIP visited Nathan's preschool, Cornerstone
Christian. Nathan's screening revealed he had 20/80 vision in his left eye. A follow
up exam by an eye care professional classified Nathan with a "lazy eye."
He was prescribed an eye patch to wear 14 hours a day, but his eye responded so
well that he wears his patch as little as four hours a day.
Had Nathan's condition gone untreated before he turned eight he could have been
legally blind in his left eye.
Laura is pleased VIP caught Nathan's problem early enough to correct his lazy
eye. To VIP, Laura says, "You're awesome!"
