Melanie Knox has been making a profound impact on the lives of children for the past 11 years at Vision Is Priceless as a Vision Screener for the Children’s Program.
Born in Sheffield Lake, Ohio, Knox grew up in Wheaton, Ill. and Lighthouse Point, Fla. She moved to Jacksonville in 1983 after graduating from the University of Florida with a Business degree in Marketing. Before joining VIP, Knox was a stay-at-home mom, raising three sons, Jeffrey, Thomas and Michael with her husband of 31 years, Dave. She was an employee of Ryder Pie Trucking for five years before staying home full-time.
Knox has been an active volunteer in the community, lending her time to Sacred Heart Catholic School in the classroom, lunch, softball and cross country programs. She has also taught CCD classes and organized the helping hands program at Mary Queen of Heaven Catholic Church. Knox served as a committee member for the Boy Scouts, and her son went on to become Eagle Scouts. Knox has also volunteered at the annual American Society Cancer Fundraiser Ball in downtown Jacksonville and for Argyle Athletic Association.
When she is not screening children to help find and correct vision problems early, she enjoys spending time with her family cooking, traveling, boating and watching Florida Gator football.
