Cheryl Stakes has been committed to the Jacksonville non-profit community for over 15 years.
Stakes began her nonprofit career at the First Coast YMCA in 2001. As a multi-faceted professional, she wore many hats for the organization including supporting membership growth and retention, program administrative management and registration, youth sports organization, financial assistance and community support. Her service earned her The Carl & Rita Cannon Staff Service Award, being named the First Coast YMCA Employee of the Year.
After more than a decade of tireless service and dedication to the YMCA, Stakes sacrificed her career to take a sabbatical to support her family at home. While committing additional time to the needs of family, Stakes still served the community as a volunteer for Duval County’s Guardian ad Litem program. As a Guardian, she became a court-appointed special advocate to serve as the voice of children entangled in family court proceedings, separate from the child’s family members, foster care providers, attorneys or social workers.
In November 2014, Stakes joined Vision is Priceless. She entered the organization as the office manager and in May 2016 was promoted to Program Director. Her new role is a perfect match for her as it allows for her passion for service and also uses her organizational and administrative skills advantageously. Since stepping into the role, Stakes has overseen growth in the number of clients VIP serves and has streamlined departmental processes to increase efficiency.
Stakes lives in Mandarin with her husband Jesse and son Paul. She enjoys traveling, boating and spending time with her husband, son and adult daughter, Sarah.
